When buying watercolors for kids, Fibo recommends pan watercolors with a lot of colors. We only recommend Prang for kids. Most of the other inexpensive brands like Crayola, Rose Art and Reeves have very little pigment in their pan watercolors, while those may be fine for toddlers, Fibo does not recommend them for kids 5 and older.
Why pan watercolors? Because both liquid and tube watercolors require careful proportion between pigment and water, whereas pan watercolors are ready to go!
Why lot of colors? Because it's easier for kids to use colors right out of the pan as opposed to mixing every single color.
