Explore Art and Black History Month in Orange County This February!
February brings a wonderful opportunity for children to celebrate Black History Month through art, with events and exhibits around Orange County that highlight African American artists, culture, and history. Here are some engaging, art-focused activities where young creatives can learn about and honor Black heritage.
Orange County
- Bowers Museum, Santa Ana – Bowers Museum offers exhibits that celebrate a variety of cultural influences. In addition to ongoing exhibits, the museum often features art workshops and events for kids, perfect for deepening their understanding of diverse cultures, including African American contributions to art.
- Hilbert Museum of California Art, Orange – Known for its focus on California artists, the Hilbert Museum may have thematic exhibits and art talks that tie into broader cultural explorations, which can be great for school-age children interested in learning about California’s diverse art heritage.
Los Angeles
- California African American Museum (CAAM), Exposition Park – The CAAM offers family-friendly exhibits, educational events, and interactive displays celebrating African American art and history.
