Lil' Picasso October 2025: From Skulls to Screams: Celebrating Halloween with Art Inspired by Famous Artists

Dear Parents,

This October, our Lil' Picasso students, will get into the spooky spirit of Halloween with a fun and creative lineup of art projects inspired by iconic works and eerie imagery. From the classic American Gothic to whimsical creatures and spooky landscapes, our students will explore various artistic styles while celebrating the season. Get ready for a month of imagination and creativity as we introduce them to artists like Grant Wood, Tim Burton, Georgia O'Keeffe, Edvard Munch, and Jeff Soto!

For Those That Don't Celebrate Halloween

All of Fibo's Lil' Picasso projects are based first and foremost on a famous artist. All projects start as non-Halloween projects, but for those who want to, we give them options throughout the project to add in Halloween elements. For those that don't celebrate Halloween, they can choose not to add these elements. All Halloween-related elements that we allow students to draw at Fibo focus on being CUTE and FRIENDLY not scary.

Meet the Artists and Their Spooky Inspiration

  • Grant Wood – American Gothic
Known for his iconic American Gothic painting, Grant Wood depicted rural life with a sense of stoic realism. For this project, children will recreate their own version of American Gothic, adding a Halloween twist by incorporating fun, spooky elements like pumpkins or witches’ hats, allowing them to explore portraiture while adding a touch of Halloween fun.

  • Tim Burton – Zero the Dog from The Nightmare Before Christmas
Tim Burton is famous for his quirky, spooky, and imaginative designs, particularly his beloved characters like Zero the ghost dog from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Our students will bring Zero to life through fun, creative drawings, learning about Burton's unique style of dark yet playful animation while exploring character design and storytelling.

  • Georgia O’Keeffe – Skulls
Known for her large-scale paintings of flowers and Southwestern landscapes, Georgia O’Keeffe also painted a series of skulls, capturing them with great detail and a sense of abstraction. Inspired by O’Keeffe’s dramatic and intricate style, students will create their own artistic renditions of skulls, learning how to combine shapes, shadows, and color to create depth and emotion.

  • Edvard Munch – The Scream
One of the most famous images in art history, Edvard Munch’s The Scream captures intense emotion and dramatic, swirling landscapes. This Halloween, students will create their own version of The Scream, learning to use bold colors and swirls to express feelings of surprise, fear, or excitement, inspired by Munch’s emotive style.

  • Jeff Soto – The Owl (Halloween-themed art)
Jeff Soto is known for his colorful, surreal works that often feature animals, monsters, and dreamlike landscapes. For this project, students will create their own spooky owl artwork, inspired by Soto's vibrant and imaginative approach to creatures, allowing them to explore fun and fantasy-filled animal portraits.

What Your Child Will Learn

This month, our little artists will:

  • Explore different artistic styles and techniques from realism to surrealism.
  • Learn to express emotions through art, from spooky to serene.
  • Develop fine motor skills through detailed drawing activities.
  • Get creative with Halloween themes while engaging with famous works of art.

We’re excited for this month. It's going to be a month filled with color, creativity, and a touch of spooky fun. Thank you for supporting their artistic journey at Fibo Kids Art Academy!
