In this series, students learn about Art History from Cave Art to Modern Art. In the "Ancient Art" course, students learn about Cave Art, Ancient Near East Art, Egyptian Art, Aegean Art and Ancient Greek and Roman Art.

PROJECT 1: CAVE ART
Project Description: In this class, students learn about Cave Art and then create a project inspired by the Cave artists of the Lascaux caves in France.
Supplies: Colored and white paper, pencil, sharpie, eraser, chalk pastels, scissors, markers
PROJECT 2: ANCIENT NEAR EAST ART
Project Description: In this class, students learn about the Sumerians (Ziggurats), Assyrians (Lamassu's) and Persians (Persopolis) who lived in Mesopotamia and created art for military purposes. Students will create a picture inspired by the Ishtar Gate (one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient World)!
Supplies: Pencil, sharpie, eraser, watercolor paper, oil pastels, markers, watercolors
PROJECT 3: ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ART
Project Description: In this class, students learn about Kings, Queens and Pharoahs and how they created art for the After-life, including temples and pyramids. Students will create a profile drawing inspired by the Bust of Nefertiti.
Supplies: Pencil, sharpie, eraser, markers, oil pastels, watercolors, watercolor paper
PROJECT 4: ANCIENT AEGEAN ART
Project Description: In this class, students learn about the Cycladics, Minoans and Mycenaens and how they can created art for athletic events and pictures of the ocean because they were surrounded by the Ocean. Students will create a drawing inspired by the Aegean art of frescoes!
Supplies:Pencil, sharpie, eraser, oil pastels, watercolor, watercolor paper, colored paper, scissors, glue
PROJECT 5: ANCIENT GREEK ART
Project Description: In this class, students learn that the Ancient Greek artists created art inspired by athletic events and festivals and they tried to show the ideal human form in their art. Students will create a picture inspired by the 3 forms of Greek columns; Doric, Ionic and Corinthian.
Supplies: Colored and white paper, scissors, glue, oil pastels
PROJECT 6: ANCIENT ROMAN ART
Project Description: In this class, students learn about the military leaders and how they commissioned works of art to show power. Students will learn create a project inspired by the Arch of Constantine.
