This course teaches students how to create their own pictures from scratch, including how to use their mediums, how to choose colors purposefully and how to create a successful composition.

Who is it Designed For: 1st to 6th Grade (younger students may need assistance)
PROJECT 1: HOW TO USE MEDIUMS
Project Description: Students will learn to use every medium properly.
Supplies: Pencil, sharpie, eraser, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils, markers, watercolor paper and Bristol paper.
PROJECT 2: HOW TO CHOOSE COLORS
Project Description: Students will learn about cool and warm colors, analogous and complementary colors, primary, secondary and tertiary colors, the color wheel and the meaning of colors. This information will help them choose colors, purposefully.
Supplies: Pencil, sharpie, eraser, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils, markers, watercolor paper and Bristol paper.
PROJECT 3: HOW TO CREATE A COMPOSITION
Project Description: Students will learn how to choose which way to turn their paper (vertically or horizontally), how to choose how big and where to place their main subject, how to think about proportion and overlapping.
Supplies: Pencil, sharpie, eraser, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils, markers, watercolor paper and Bristol paper.
PROJECT 4: CREATING A PICTURE FROM SCRATCH
Project Description: In this final project, students are given a prompt and then they create their own drawing using the skills they have learned in the previous three projects. This process can be utilized to draw any picture they want.
Supplies: Pencil, sharpie, eraser, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils, markers, watercolor paper and Bristol paper.
