2021-2022 Featured Artists!

Each year, we feature 3 artists, one each in the Fall, Winter and Spring. 2021-2022, will feature: Henri Matisse, Paul Cezanne and Leonardo DaVinci!

Fall 2021: Matisse

For the Fall 2021 session, students will learn about the French, Fauve artist, Henri Matisse.


What Students Will Learn

In the Assembly, students will learn about Henri Matisse's life and his art. They will be introduced to his abstract figurative and landscape paintings and his collages. They will learn why he was called a "Fauve" and how his use of unrealistic colors shocked critiques at the time. Students will learn about his use of colors, bold outlines and symbolism in his work.

What Students Will Create

Students will create a collage inspired by Matisse. They will use sticker-backed colored paper on dark-colored backgrounds to create striking collages inspired by music, and telling their own story through shapes, colors and symbols. They will learn about color theory and creating a balanced composition through shapes, color, size and repetition.

Mode of Instruction

Fibo instructors will host this session via Zoom. Teacher's can cast Fibo on their classrom white-board or projection screen in the multi-purpose room, or students can join on individual devices from any location.

For schools within Orange County, CA, Fibo will provide the consumable supplies (background paper and colored sticker paper). Your school will need to provide scissors, pencils and a black marker for each student.

Winter 2021: Cezanne

For the Winter 2021 session, students will learn about the Post-Impressionist painter, Paul-Cezanne.


What Students Will Learn

In the Assembly, students will learn about Paul Cezanne's life and art. They will be introduced to his Post-Impressionistic landscapes and Still-Life's. They will learn why Cezanne is considered the Father of Modern Art, and how he helped transition the art world from Impressionism to Cubism and influenced key artists of the 20th century.

What Students Will Create

Students will create still-lifes and landscapes in the style of Cezanne. They will mimic the Impressionistic style with baby oil and oil pastels. They will learn how Cezanne sought to simplify each object to find it's purest form of representation. They will learn about mixing colors, shading, lighting and more.

Supplies

For schools within Orange County, CA, Fibo will provide the consumable supplies (background paper, condiment cups, baby oil and Q-Tips). Your school will need to provide pencils and oil pastels.

Spring 2022: DaVinci

For the Winter 2022 session, students will learn about the Italian Renaissance artist, Leonardo DaVinci.


What Students Will Learn

In the Assembly, students will learn about Leonardo DaVinci's life and his art. They will be introduced to his many famous types of work, including oil paintings and sculptures, architectural and perspective contributions and his inventions.

What Students Will Create

Students will create figures and portraits inspired by DaVinci. They will learn how DaVinci created rules, called Schematics, for drawing the proportions of the human face and body.

How Does it Work?

Schedule up to 3 artist sessions per year. Fibo teaches via Zoom. Cast Fibo on a white-board or have students join on individual devices. Enjoy a highly educational and interactive Art History Assembly and Art Class!

  • SCHEDULE: Schedule up to 3 artist sessions per year, one each in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
  • SESSIONS: Each session includes a LIVE, 90 minute class for each age group (PreK-1st, 2nd/3rd and 4th-6th). Flexible scheduling, anytime Tuesday - Friday, 10am-3pm PT.
  • THE CLASS: Each 90 minute class starts with a 20 minute Art History Assembly followed by an Art Class, taught step-by-step by a Fibo instructor.

What Makes Our Art History Assemblies Better?

Each 90 minute class, starts with a 20 minute Assembly. The Assembly begins with an artist biography video, followed by an interactive art critique, and ends with a review game.

  • ARTIST BIO: Fibo creates deeply researched scripts, hires professional actors to play the famous artists, and creates high-end video biographies paired with animation of our Fibo character to keep student's engaged.
  • ART CRITIQUE: After students watch the artist biography, students view some of the artist's most famous work and then our instructors facilitate an engaging conversation.
  • REVIEW GAME: We wrap up the Assembly with an energetic, interactive game to review what they have learned.

What Makes Our Art Classes Better?

After the Assembly, students create a project inspired by the artist they just learned about. Our Fibo projects combine step by step instruction with process art and lots of room for creativity. Our projects explore a wide variety of styles and materials.

  • VARIETY OF STYLES: Fibo's curriculum introduces students to a variety of styles such as Realism, Cartooning, Impressionism, Cubism, Fauvism, Surrealism and much more.
  • VARIETY OF SUPPLIES: Fibo's curriculum introduces students to a variety of supplies, such as graphite and charcoal, watercolors and acrylics, oil pastels and chalk pastels and many other fun mediums such as tissue and starch, scratch board, printmaking and more!
  • VARIETY OF SUBJECTS: Students learn to draw a variety of subjects such as Animals, People, Landscapes, Still Lifes and Abstract Compositions.

Fibo's Curriculum

Fibo's School-Program Curriculum has been designed to be diverse in culture, gender, style, subject and time-period. Fibo features 3 artists each school-year, from an 7-year rotation of curriculum. Each artist features 3 different projects designed for each age group (PreK-1st, 2nd/3rd and 4th-6th).

  • Students will learn about past artists such as Van Gogh as well as living artists like Wyland and Hockney.
  • Students will learn about stylistically diverse artists such as DaVinci's realism, Warhol's Pop Art, Picasso's Cubism and Rothko's Field-color paintings.
  • Students will learn about female artists, such as Bonheur, Cassatt, Kahlo and O'Keefe.
  • Students will learn about BIPOC artists, such as Basquiat and Ringgold.
