In the ABC Art History Book Series, students create a picture for every letter of the alphabet based on a famous artist. In this course, students will create a picture for letters M through S, including Monet, Normal Rockwell, Oldenburg, Picasso, Qian Xuan, Renoir and Salvador Dali.

Course Designed For: PK-1st Grade (younger students may need assistance)
Series Supplies: pencil, sharpie, eraser, markers, chalk pastels, colored pencils, oil pastels, watercolors, colored paper, scissors, glue, watercolor paper and your choice of picture-mounting or binding (ie: colored paper and a presentation book).
In this course, students will create a page for their ABC Art History book for each letter M to S:
- Letter M: In this project, students learn about the artist, Claude Monet. Monet was a famous French Impressionist, famous for his paintings of bridges and ponds.
- Letter N: In this project, students learn about the artist, Norman Rockwell. Rockwell was an American illustrator, famous for his drawings of everyday life.
- Letter O: In this project, students learn about the artist, Claes Oldenburg. Oldenburg is a sculptor most famous for his large paintings of everyday objects.
- Letter P: In this project, students learn about the artist, Pablo Picasso. Picasso was a Spanish artist, famous for his rose and blue period paintings, harlequins and cubist paintings.
- Letter Q: In this project, students learn about the artist, Quan Xian. Xian was a Chinese painter from Hu Zhou during the late Song dynastly and early Yuan dynasty. He was known as a "fur and feathers" painter, but also painted bird-and-flower paintings, character paintings and landscape paintings.
- Letter R: In this project, students learn about the artist, Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Renoir was a French, Impressionist painter known for painting women and little girls.
- Letter S: In this project, students learn about the artist, Salvador Dali. Dali was a Spanish Surrealist painter. One of his most famous works is The Persistence of Memory (melting clocks).
